Primary Purpose:

To provide students with knowledge and skills in business concepts, finance, entrepreneurship, and career readiness, while fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy through engaging instruction aligned with the district's curriculum and TEKS standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
• Valid Texas teacher certification in Business and Finance (Grades 6 12)
• Demonstrated knowledge of business principles, computer applications, and career/technical education
• Prior teaching experience preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional:

• Develop and deliver lessons aligned with TEKS for business education courses (e.g., Principles of Business, Marketing & Finance; Money Matters; Business Information Management).
• Utilize technology and project-based learning to engage students in real-world business applications.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Classroom Management:

• Create a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and campus policies.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with other CTE staff, core content teachers, and counselors to support student academic and career success.
• Attend department meetings, ARD/504/RTI meetings as necessary.

Professional Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and progress.
• Participate in professional development and implement strategies learned.
• Comply with all district policies and administrative regulations.

Working Conditions:

• Frequent standing, stooping, bending, and lifting
• Regular exposure to computer screen time
• May involve local travel for competitions or career events
  *Minimum Salary $67,200 for fully certified teachers
  *Salary is commensurate with experience
  *Works 187 Day Calendar
  * Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
  Sheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through June 24, 2026. After this date, applications will continue to be accepted in the event a suitable candidate is not identified.
