JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Responsibilities Oversee import and Customs house Broker processes, ensuring compliance with U.S. laws, regulations, and company procedures. Manage all customs broker and import transactions accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain compliance, train staff, recordkeeping, and supervise customs house broker and import personnel. Act as the primary contact for United States Customs and Border Protection (US CBP), Importer Security Filing (ISF), Container Freight Station (CFS), and other relevant government agencies. Educate and train staff on performance gaps and skill enhancement. Assist customers with compliance requirements, including classification, valuation, preferential trade programs, and post-entry work. Ensure 100% compliance with Importer Security Filings (ISF) and timely payment of duty statements, ACH statements, and Periodic Monthly Statements (PMS). Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for Entry Processing, ensuring the team meets JAS customer care standards. Collaborate with the local central dispatching team to oversee day‑to‑day freight movement and handle escalated issues. Directly or indirectly supervise entry writers and import personnel, conduct annual performance reviews, and manage work assignments. Qualifications Strong knowledge of customs laws, practices, and procedures. Familiarity with FDA, Fish and Wildlife (US F&W), and other government agencies. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite; Cargo Wise platform preferred. Detail-oriented, capable of multitasking and meeting deadlines. Self-motivated and able to work both independently and within a team. Ability to perform duties without posing a direct threat to health or safety. Positive interpersonal skills with co‑workers, subordinates, supervisors, and government officials. Education & Experience Licensed Customer Broker (LCB) required. Five years’ experience in the logistics or forwarding industry. Minimum of three years in a supervisory role. Minimum of four years’ experience working in customs brokerage and understanding customs regulations. Bilingual language skills are a plus. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Environment The role is performed in a climate‑controlled office setting, requiring regular standing, walking, use of hands, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. The position demands a fluid, fast‑paced work environment. Salary The base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $130,000 annually, in accordance with the California pay transparency law. Individual pay within this range is determined by relevant experience, education, skills, and performance.
