Job Description

Event Host

Serves as the pace-setter, lead host, and relationship manager for clients, partners, and staff, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere while maintaining high operational standards. Plays a critical role in marketing support, client communication, logistics coordination, and on-site leadership by performing the following essential functions.

Client Experience & Hosting: Serves as the primary on-site host for events and client interactions. Builds strong relationships with clients from inquiry through event execution. Ensure guests feel welcomed and supported. Determines client objectives and requirements; inspects facilities to ensure they conform to client requirements. Serves as liaison to the Director of Development/Event Center during events. Receives complaints and answers questions from the clients, public, participants, and staff; investigating and resolving complaints as instructed by the Director.

Event Logistics & Execution: Coordinates logistics with operations staff, temp staff, vendors, and partners. Leads day-of-event execution and problem-solving. Directs and supports temp staff during events. Meets with sponsors and organizing committees to plan scope and format of events, to establish and monitor budgets, or to review administrative procedures and event progress. Arranges the availability of audio-visual equipment, transportation, displays, and other event needs. Ensures complete event clean-up and facility reset after each event.

Sales & Marketing Support: Serves as the initial point of contact for inquiries before transitioning to the Director. Supports marketing initiatives and promotional efforts. Collaborates with Tourism and community partners. Assists in the design and implementation of efforts to publicize events and promote sponsorships.

Reporting: Completes pre- and post-event reports and operational feedback.

BA/BS in hospitality management, business administration, marketing, or a closely related field and five years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Class D driver's license and good driving record are required and must be maintained throughout employment.

The supervisor provides administrative direction with assignments in terms of broadly defined mission or functions. The employee plans, designs, and carries out programs, projects, studies, or other work independently. Result of work are considered as technically authoritative and normally accepted without significant change. If review is done, it concerns fulfillment of program objectives, effect of overall program, or contribution to the City as a whole. Supervises one part-time employee and all temp staff, vendor staff, and volunteers in the Event Center. The employee may have to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions. The employee often must originate new techniques or develop new information. Many of the employee's decisions affect persons or situation beyond the scope of his/her job.
