About Christian Relief Services Charities
Christian Relief Services Charities (CRSC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1985. Through compassionate stewardship and service, CRSC supports charitable programs that strengthen communities and improve lives. The organization has an IRS Group Exemption consisting of 21 active subordinate organizations and manages a diverse financial portfolio.
Our revenue sources include donated in-kind goods and rental income, along with grants and charitable contributions. As the organization continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced financial executive to provide strategic leadership and ensure strong financial stewardship.
Position SummaryReporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer serves as a key member of the team and provides direction for financial operations of Christian Relief Services Charities and its affiliated entities.
The CFO is responsible for financial planning, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, compliance, risk management, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls. This executive will partner closely with organizational leadership to ensure sound financial management that supports CRSC's mission and long-term sustainability.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Chief Financial Officer will:
Advise the CEO and executive leadership team on financial planning.
Direct all accounting and financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, treasury, cash flow management, and multi-entity financial reporting.
Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, fund and grant accounting, and consolidated financial statements.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), lender requirements, federal and state regulations, and debt covenants.
Lead annual financial audits, coordinate IRS Form 990 preparation, and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
Present financial reports and analyses to the CEO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and Audit Committee.
Develop and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and risk management practices.
Partner with program leadership, fundraising staff, and property management teams to support organizational decision-making.
Evaluate and implement improvements to financial systems, reporting capabilities, and operational processes.
Recruit, mentor, and develop finance staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Successful candidates will possess:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
MBA, Master's degree, or CPA designation (preferred).
Minimum seven years of progressively responsible financial management experience in the nonprofit sector.
At least two years in a senior financial leadership or executive role.
Experience with strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and board reporting.
Strong full-cycle accounting experience, including financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and internal controls.
Experience with affordable housing and property management financial operations.
Knowledge of fund accounting, grant accounting, and multi-entity consolidations.
Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
High standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical judgment.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial management systems, including Financial Edge NXT, DoorLoop, and MRI Software.
