Mat Pilates InstructorThe Mat Pilates Instructor is responsible for leading safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes while promoting overall health and wellness. Instructors educate, motivate, and empower participants through quality instruction, proper exercise techniques, and positive member interactions. Opportunities may also include participation in workshops, special events, and wellness initiatives.This is a temporary, part-time position. Work hours are not guaranteed and are contingent upon sufficient student enrollment in assigned classes. Opportunities to work are limited to periods when University courses are in session. As a result, scheduled hours may vary by semester and are subject to enrollment demand and academic scheduling needs. Our employees benefit from a collaborative community, cutting-edge research opportunities, and outstanding resources.Primary Duties:Instruct and lead Mat Pilates classes in a safe, welcoming, motivating, and engaging environmentEducate participants in proper exercise form, technique, group fitness principles, and exercise modifications to support varying fitness levels and abilitiesMonitor and assist participants with check-in of group fitness classesClean and organize fitness equipmentParticipate in Continuing Education Credits (CEC's or CEU's)Perform other duties assignedDepartment Responsibilities:Provide exceptional customer service by welcoming and assisting Campus Recreation participants, answering questions accurately and professionally, addressing concerns in a courteous manner, and creating a positive, engaging environment for all patrons and participantsMarket Campus Recreation and area eventsDemonstrate a commitment to providing an environment where people feel welcomed, valued, supported, and respected as they work to pursue their academic and professional goalsAct as a first responder in emergency situationsAttend all department and area trainings and meetings as assignedMust possess a current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid certification provided by the department at no costKeep up to date on all TrainTraq assignmentsBe prepared to encounter and respond to various hazards, with training provided to ensure safety and proper handling of potential risksMaintain a standard of conduct while participating in Campus Rec activities or facilities, serving as a role model for other patrons by adhering to all safety, behavior, and policiesAssists with department events and programming as neededWork early morning, night and weekend hours as neededMinimum Requirements:Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities: Strong verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.Licensing/Professional Certifications: Must possess Balanced Body Mat Pilates Instructor or other nationally accredited Mat Pilates certifications.Physical Requirements: Ability to move 50lbs or more as required by job dutiesOther Requirements: Work early morning, night and weekend hours as neededPreferred Education / Skills/ Experience:Prior participation in a group fitness classSupervision of Others: NAAll positions are security-sensitive.
