Job Description

Overview Explore The Recovery Village Salem Drug, Alcohol and Mental Health Rehab Center, where a team of physicians offers expert treatment for addiction and mental health disorders. Location 309 Lancaster Dr NE, Salem, OR 97301 Schedule Clinical schedule: 8am‑5pm, 7 days a week. PRN – ideal candidates can work weekends and on‑call (telephonic on‑call). Full‑time: Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM. Responsibilities Provides excellent medical care aligned with the ARS philosophy outlined by the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director. Discovers and treats medication complications and detoxification protocols and prescribes medications as needed. Demonstrates proficiency using the electronic health record and completes all required documentation in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with company policies, state regulation, Joint Commission standards and Medical Needs Criteria. Documents admission history and physical evaluation, medical progress notes, discharge summary, peer‑to‑peer form, medication and ancillary orders, patient allergies, diagnosis updates, laboratory data interpretation, and HIV/STD results as required. Understands ASAM criteria and Medical Needs Criteria and documents decision making accordingly. Screen for substance use disorders, psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, withdrawal, pain, and nutrition deficiencies and makes interventions or referrals. Reviews physical examination reports and medical screening results to ensure client medical needs are incorporated into the treatment plan. Communicates on‑call responsibilities and maintains contact and back‑up numbers, staying within one hour of the facility during emergencies. Implements performance improvement plans and collaborates with the Medical Director to develop cost‑effective therapeutic services. Supports and supervises Physician Assistants and supports Level of Care changes and peer reviews. Maintains safety, infection control, and other applicable guidelines. Submits timesheets and expenses on time (non‑exempt hours). Performs other tasks and duties as assigned. Requirements Graduated from an accredited master’s program or higher; PA’s from non‑master’s programs may be considered. Licensed Physician Assistant in the state of practice. Has a DEA to prescribe controlled medications and has at least eight (8) hours of educational training on buprenorphine prescribing as required by the DEA. May need a protocol agreement completed by the PA and Medical Director, depending on state requirements. Preferred Experience Experience in Addiction Medicine or primary behavioral health. Familiarity with JCAHO and other healthcare standards. Familiarity with ASAM criteria. Strong communication skills to interact with all levels of facility staff. Ability to apply continuous quality improvement and performance improvement team philosophy to organizational strategies. Benefits Scheduling flexibility; required to be onsite with some on‑call.
