ABOUT THE ROLE

Techno is looking for a Systems Safety Manager to support complex transportation and infrastructure programs across New York and New Jersey. This role will oversee system safety and safety certification activities throughout the lifecycle of major transit and rail-related projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and project-specific safety requirements. The ideal candidate has extensive experience supporting large-scale transportation programs and brings strong expertise in system safety, hazard mitigation, regulatory compliance, and multi-agency coordination within active rail or transit environments.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Lead system safety and safety certification activities across major transportation and infrastructure projects. Oversee implementation and compliance with project safety management plans, system safety program plans, and safety certification procedures. Coordinate with project teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to support safety integration throughout design, construction, testing, and operational readiness phases. Monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, and industry safety regulations, standards, and guidelines. Conduct safety reviews, audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and mitigation requirements. Review contractor safety documentation, technical submittals, hazard analyses, and safety certification packages for compliance and completeness. Track hazards, corrective actions, mitigation measures, and safety-related project issues through resolution and closure. Participate in safety meetings, emergency preparedness activities, operational readiness reviews, and coordination efforts with project stakeholders. Support development and implementation of safety procedures, training initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts across project teams. Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation related to safety performance, compliance tracking, and certification activities. Coordinate with engineering, construction, operations, and program management teams to support safe project delivery and system integration activities.

Strong rail, transit, or transportation infrastructure experience required. Familiarity with FTA, FRA, OSHA, and applicable transportation safety standards and regulatory requirements preferred. Experience supporting hazard analysis, risk mitigation, safety audits, and safety management systems within large capital programs. Knowledge of system safety processes, safety certification procedures, and operational readiness coordination. Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills within multi-disciplinary project environments. OSHA 10 certification required; additional industry certifications such as TSSP, WSO, CSP, or similar credentials are a plus. Ability to work across active project sites and coordinate with multiple agencies, contractors, and operational teams. As a trusted leader in engineering and construction management, we take immense pride in our role as a driving force within the industry. At Techno, we're not just building projects; we are the visionaries of tomorrow's infrastructure.
